INFORMATION ON how do we elect President of INDIA
The name president is a Latin word Praeses. Pre stands for before and sedere stands for to sit.
President is head of the country. This topic gives
the information on the way of electing
President in India.
The President is elected by the
members of Lok sabha,Rajya sabha and Vidhan sabha. Each member will have a vote
and the value of the vote will be calculated by a simple formula.
Now we will see the value of a vote
of a member of vidhan sabha(MLA). Let us take an example of Andhra Pradesh.
For example Population of Andhra Pradesh is 84665533
according to 2011 census and number of MLA’S Are 294.
VALUE OF VOTE OF A MLA=TOTAL POPULATION/TOTAL NO.
OF MLA’S IN THE STATE
84665533/294=287978.003
AGAIN DIVIDE IT BY 1000.
287978.003/1000=288.
SO THE VALUE OF ONE VOTE WILL BE 288.
Similarly we can find for other states also….
You can find the 2011 census in the below link:
Let
us take an example to know the value of vote of a member of Parliament(Lok
sabha + Rajya sabha).
The value of vote of member of Lok sabha and
Rajya sabha are the same.
Value of vote of a member=vale of a vote of MLA’S
* number of MLA’S in the state.
Eg: for Andhra Pradesh value =288*294=84762
Total members in parliament=Lok sabha(543)+ Rajya
sabha(223)=776
Similarly we can calculate for other states also.
IN 2012 PRESIDENT ELECTIONS
NO.OF MLA’S=4120
NO. OF MP’S=776
TOTAL VOTE VALUE=10.98 lakhs.
MP’S VOTES=5,49,408
MLA’S VOTES=5,49,474
MINIMUM VOTES TO WIN:5,49,442
FROM THE ABOVE INFO WE CAN DECIDE THE PRESIDENT
OF INDIA..
